*groan*

Cut-and-paste? Nope. Forward SMS? Nope. Bikini chick game? Yep, sure is. Can I just say that the whole ‘quality control’ bullshit that Apple feeds us as their excuse for the closed App Store is pretty hard to stomach in the face of rubbish like this.

blogger indonesia on prita

Presidential candidate Megawati Sukarnoputri visited her at prison. And the result: her status change within minutes, from imprisonment into house arrest! As I said below, law in Indonesia is with the one who has money and/or power. You should be the ones or having friend with that qualifications.

I can’t keep up with The Prita Affair. It’s moving way too fast. I am beginning to confuse this case with that of Manohara, another nasty case. Thank [G/g]od for Blogger Indonesia, Unspun and others who do a great job summarizing the news and pointing out some of the less obvious points, like this.

windows 7 vs mac os x?

Gina Trapani has done a blow by blow comparison of some of the common features of Windows 7 and Mac OS X. The good news is that Microsoft’s hard work has paid off, and Windows ’sufferers’ (myself included) have something to look forward to. Can you imagine how different things would be if Apple wasn’t leading the charge?

danger will robinson danger!

This news item on Lifehacker.com, so it must be true. It seems that Apple has a new revenue winner: charge customers again if they want to re-download an iPhone app from the iTunes Store. Interesting tactic. Morally bankrupt, of course.

all a-twitter over pre

Turns out I’m not as excited as I thought about the Palm Pre’s impending launch. The problem is, lately I’ve fallen in love with my iPhone. Again. *Sigh*

That’s not to say I would say no to a well-timed birthday gift (by virtue of international time zones, the Pre will be launched in the US on my birthday).

don’t these guys have better things to do…?

So far pretty much all the rumours about iPhone 3.0 (the rumoured handset) are a bit ‘meh’. The only rumours of any significance seem to be the 3.2 megapixel camera and the OLED screen. As for the matt-finished back? I already have one. It cost me 100.000 rups at ITC Fatmawati.

stupid police? or just prejudiced?

We guarded the mosque until 10 p.m.; who would’ve known they’d come back at dawn

Eight men attacked an Ahmadiyah mosque this morning, trying to burn it down while people prayed inside. I don’t care what your views are, that is attempted murder and it’s disgusting. The Government is directly responsible for this bullshit. Shame!

much ado about nothing

In response to the headscarf issue, Democratic Party (PD) deputy chairman Anas Urbaningrum called on all campaign teams not to politicize religious matters… Despite his call, PD handed out posters depicting the President and his wife Ani Yudhoyono, who appears to wear a green headscarf.

This election has the makings of a Shakespearean comedy. Ibu Ani ‘appears’ to wear a scarf. Kalla ‘appears’ to capitalize on the situation by distributing religious propaganda. Ratu Megawati ‘appears’ to snub/snob the President… My only question: which one is Don John, the Bastard Prince?

who knew…

…Rouse was taking over Posterous?! New arrival, Aditya, Dodit and me makes three! Before you laugh in derision, that's like the total population of my home-town (not counting sheep).

what is twitter anyway? a business struggles to understand

Like a lot of businesses, we are closely monitoring developments in on-line social networking, and trying to assess what it all means. Twitter's ascendancy and blessing by the Queen of America, Oprah Winfrey, means that whenever you mention 'social networking' people think Twitter. This wouldn't be so bad if the likes of Ashton Kutcher hadn't reduced Twitter's popular reputation to vanity-gimmick-time-waster. The result? Breaking down popular misconceptions about Twitter and social networking generally has become our biggest hurdle.

Of course, this isn't such a bad thing. Having a couple of naysayers to contend with can be useful. For a start, it forces you to step back and think for a minute. What is all this about anyway? What are we trying to achieve? For me the question is quite simple: what is going on?

The way I see it, all the Twitter-hype is a distraction. CNN, Oprah and a slew of rabid celebrities turned Twitter into a popularity contest. Who can blame them? The geek media is no different. TWiT's Leo Laporte, Digg-founder Kevin Rose, and all-time Grumpy Geek John C Dvorak scrap for 'followers' (a follower is a person who subscribes to your Twitter feed) like rabid dogs. It's hardly surprising if the general population sees Twitter as no more than the latest fad.

There's a lot more going on here, but I am not sure that anyone notices. Over the next few posts, I am going to share some of the things I have experienced, along with my thoughts. I would really appreciate your feedback.
